Ander Herrera is keen to carry forward Manchester United’s rich history in the FA Cup in this season’s competition.

Manchester United will travel to Huish Park to take on League One side Yeovil Town in the third round of the FA Cup on 4th January.

It will be Herrera’s first taste of the competition and he feels the FA Cup’s one-legged affairs are more exciting than the two-legged ties that he was used to playing in the Spanish Cup back home.

"It's different to the Spanish Cup because it's more about the knockout situation", Herrera told Inside United.

"In Spain we play two legs in the cup, so I think it’s good that it can be down to just one game here, it makes it very emotional. So I like the FA Cup and when I was in Spain I always watched it.”

With eleven FA Cups in their trophy cabinet, Manchester United are the most successful side in the competition’s history, but their last triumph came in 2004.

Herrera is aware of the club’s rich history in the competition and is keen to be part of another FA Cup winning team at Old Trafford.

"I have seen on the walls at the training ground how many times we have won the FA Cup. Manchester United has won it more times than anyone, just like the league.

“It’s an important competition for United but all the competitions are important for the club because we always want to win everything."
