Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has welcomed his side being drawn against Chelsea in the semi-finals of the League Cup, despite admitting a difficult tie lies ahead.

Rodgers' men defeated Championship leaders Bournemouth at Dean Court this evening, running out comfortable 3-1 winners to book their spot in the last four.

And their reward is a two-legged semi-final tie against Jose Mourinho's Chelsea, with the first game due to take place at Liverpool's Anfield home.

Rodgers, reacting to the draw on Sky Sports, was calm.

He said: "The most important thing was getting through through the game tonight.

"It will be a very difficult game for us.

"Over the two legs it didn't matter who we got, it's Chelsea and we'll look forward to that when the time comes.

"It was just important to get there. It will be a fantastic tie and if you want to win this competition you've got to win against the good sides."
