Liverpool are enlisting the help of Mario Balotelli's agent to help solve their goalkeeping problem.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers dropped Simon Mignolet to the bench for Sunday's 3-0 defeat at Manchester United after finally losing patience with his number 1's poor form.

However, Mignolet's understudy Brad Jones is not viewed as a long-term solution at Anfield, hence the hunt is on for another goalkeeper.

And Liverpool are reviving their interest in Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero, who impressed with Argentina at the World Cup.

The Merseyside giants looked at Romero during the summer and now, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, the Reds have recruited Balotelli's agent, Mino Raiola, to drive through a deal for the custodian.

The goalkeeper is now a likely January signing for Liverpool, although the Reds have also not written off alternative options.
