Celtic midfielder Stefan Johansen is enjoying the challenge of improving his goalscoring record in his new role in the team.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Ronny Deila has used Johansen in a more advanced role that dictates he improve his return in front of goal.

The 23-year-old has scored five goals already this season and has even created six for his team-mates at Celtic Park.

Johansen admits that he had to tweak his natural game to adapt to his new position, but said that he is enjoying the responsibility of being the creative hub of the team.

“In Stromsgodset I played as a defensive midfielder and that’s what I do in the national team as well so the job for me is to set up other players.”

“Lately I’ve been playing more in the No. 10 role and there you need to score goals as well. You’re often in good positions to score so it’s just a mix of that.

“You need to work to get into the scoring positions and help the team with goals, not just assists.”
