Ajax coach Frank de Boer, who has been linked with succeeding Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool, has held the door open for a potential move to Russia.

De Boer's brother Ronald said earlier this week that if Liverpool come calling for Frank next summer then the answer would be very different than in the summer of 2012, when he snubbed an approach to talk to the Reds.

Rodgers is under immense pressure at Anfield after spending over £100m in the summer and taking the side backwards in the Premier League.

But De Boer would consider more than just Liverpool and working in Russia is something he admits appeals.

"It could be [an option] in the future", he told Sport-Express.

"It is possible.

"Russia has always had talented footballers. There is also money to buy a lot of good players."

De Boer admits though that heading east is not presently his preferred option.

"To be honest, Russia is not my first choice. Right now I want to focus on Ajax, where I have a contract until the summer of 2017.

"What happens next, we will have to see."
