Nicola Salerno believes that Leeds United could reach an agreement with Sassuolo over striker Leonardo Pavoletti very quickly, leaving the ball in the player's court.

The Leeds sporting director pushed hard to usher Pavoletti through the Elland Road entrance before the transfer window slammed shut in the summer.

But Pavoletti was cool on a switch to Leeds and stayed put in Italy as the window slammed shut.

He has once again been linked with Leeds ahead of the opening of the January transfer window, but the situation is complicated as the Whites are under a transfer embargo.

Salerno feels doing a deal with Sassuolo though would be simple, with it being down to Pavoletti to decide on a move.

"I've liked him for years, even before I arrived at Leeds", Salerno told Sky Italia.

"Both the president [Massimo Cellino] and myself like him.

"With Sassuolo we could easily find an agreement, but you have to understand what he [Pavoletti] wants to do", the Leeds transfer broker added.
