Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said that contract renewal talks with incumbent manager Carlo Ancelotti will begin at the end of the current season.

Talking about the speculation in the media about Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid he told AS: “It surprises me, I read the papers and all there is, is talk of renewal.”




Explaining his position on the contract renewal he said: “We only discuss this matter at the beginning and the end of the season. This applies to players and technical staff.”

 


Expressing his satisfaction with the Italian’s work at Madrid, Perez added: “We’d be delighted to renew his contract when the season ends.”

Last season Real Madrid won their tenth Champions League after a 12-year wait in Ancelotti’s first year in charge.

Prior to joining the Spanish giants Ancelotti had successful managerial stints at AC Milan, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Currently on a 21-game winning run, Real Madrid will play the FIFA Club World Cup final this Saturday where a win will see them collect their fourth trophy of this calendar year.
