Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has played down a departure next month for wantaway duo Xherdan Shaqiri and Pierre Hojbjerg.

The pair are unhappy at a lack of playing time under Guardiola at the Allianz Arena and an exit for each in January has been floated.

Shaqiri was wanted by Liverpool over the summer and the Swiss star revealed in September that Bayern Munich vetoed a move to Anfield.

He has promised to assess his future next month, but Guardiola feels Shaqiri will stay, along with Hojbjerg.

"I think that they will stay with us", the Bayern Munich coach told a press conference when asked about the pair.

"If we have something to talk about then we will do it with Matthias Sammer [the sporting director]", Guardiola added.

Shaqiri has made nine appearances in the Bundesliga for the Bavarians so far this season while Hojbjerg has clocked up seven top flight appearances.
