Gus Poyet has expressed his dissatisfaction with Sunderland’s transfer dealings and has pleaded for more quality additions to his squad.

Sunderland are currently 15th in the league table on 16 points and are desperately trying to keep their noses ahead in the relegation dogfight.

Though they have lost just twice in their last eight games, the Black Cats have just managed to win only once and five have ended in draws.

The Sunderland head coach has stressed that he needs more quality in his squad, but is unsure whether he will get what he wants.

"I want more quality. Do I think I'll get it? I don't know", Poyet told reporters.

"You know what is missing. It is clear what we need to do. That is down to recruitment.

"So, if you ever get the chance to speak to anyone on the recruitment side and ask them about it, you are lucky. If you don't, don't ask me."

Sunderland spent around £16m last summer on new arrivals, including paying £11m to Manchester City for the purchase of Jack Rodwell.
