Frank de Boer is not prepared to talk about the possibility of taking over from Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool out of respect for the Northern Irishman.

Rodgers is under immense pressure at Anfield after spending over £100m on new players in the summer and taking Liverpool backwards in the Premier League; they currently sit a lowly eleventh and are already 18 points off leaders Chelsea after just 16 games.

De Boer, who has led Ajax to the last four consecutive Dutch league titles, has been linked with succeeding Rodgers next summer.

But he will not be drawn on the prospect while the Northern Irishman is still in post and he has not been contacted.

"I do not really want to talk about Liverpool. Also out of respect for the current coach, who had a fantastic last season and now performs slightly worse", De Boer told De Telegraaf.

"As long as I have not been contacted, I'm not going to think about it."

Rodgers' men beat Bournemouth in the League Cup last night, but face a sterner test this weekend when Arsenal visit Anfield.
