Everton forward Steven Naismith has signed a new three-year contract extension with the Meseysiders which will keep him at the club until the end of 2018/19 season.

The Scotland international was signed by former Toffees manager David Moyes on a free transfer in 2012, on an initial four-year deal.

He told the club's television channel, expressing his satisfaction over his stay at the Goodison Park: "I am so happy here.

"From the moment I signed my first contract here it wasn't long before I saw what a great club it was”, he added.

Naismith has scored five goals this season in 13 Premier League appearances, as well as an international goal in Scotland’s European Championship qualifier against Poland.

Enjoying a rich vein of form since his move from Rangers, he said: "I would say this is probably the best form of my career. I'm delighted to have agreed an extension which will keep me here for a few more years yet."

Everton face Southampton in the Premier League this weekend where Naismith will look to add to his goal tally.
