Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has urged his team to keep the good work going in the League Cup as they get closer to the final at Wembley.

The Lilywhites beat Newcastle United 4-0 last night to set up a date with Sheffield United in the last four stage of the tournament.

The 20-year-old, who netted his first goal for the club in the 18th minute of the match, was visibly delighted with the outcome and insists that the goal for now will be to ensure that they make it to Wembley to play in the final of the tournament.

“We all said we wanted to go as far as possible in this competition and now we’re as close as we can be to Wembley", the Algerian told his club's official site.

"We have to keep on going and a win like that can take us forward."

Bentaleb also took time to speak about the special feeling of scoring his first goal for the club, adding that it was obviously a moment to remember for him as the ball went and everyone came "running towards me!"

“It’s a fantastic feeling to hit the back of the net. I’m not sure if it was a great finish – a good goal perhaps – but I’ll certainly take it.

“I didn’t know what to do when it went in! I was just happy.

"I was shocked because I didn’t see the ball go in but then everyone was running towards me!”
