Leeds United and Cesena are on a collision course over Sassuolo striker Leonardo Pavoletti.

Whites sporting director Nicola Salerno is a firm fan of Pavoletti and wants to take him to Elland Road, despite the club currently being under a Football League transfer embargo.

Salerno admitted recently that he believes doing a deal with Sassuolo for Pavoletti would be straightforward, with the ball being in the player's court.

Leeds face competition though and, according to Sky Italia, Cesena are plotting a move for Pavoletti and may be aided by the striker's reluctance to quit his homeland.

Pavoletti snubbed an approach from Leeds in the summer when Salerno was confident of a deal being done.

Cesena, keen to add Pavoletti's firepower, currently sit second bottom in Serie A and have struggled to score goals this season, managing only 12 in 15 league games so far.
