Liverpool legend Jan Molby believes that Jordan Henderson can succeed as a right wing-back, a position he was deployed in for the League Cup match against Bournemouth.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has tried several things in a bid to resurrect their faltering season which has seen them bow out of the Champions League in the group stage and currently lie 11th in the Premier League. Recently, he used midfielder Henderson as a wing-back.

According former midfielder Molby, Henderson has what it takes to succeed in that position. Talking to LFC TV, he said: “I don’t see Jordan Henderson playing as a right wing-back being any problem.

“One of his strengths is his running ability, how he gets up and down”, he further added, praising the 24-year-old England international.

On the other hand he isn’t impressed with Lazar Markovic’s performance in a left wing-back role, explaining: “We haven’t seen a great deal from him and from what we have seen hasn’t been overly impressive so far and you do worry about him defensively, maybe against the better teams.

“More and more players are capable of playing in different positions due to modern demands of the game”, he concluded.
