Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes his summer signing Lazar Markovic is improving all the time.

Struggling to make an impact at Liverpool since his arrival from Benfica in July, Markovic came into his own against Bournemouth this Wednesday.




In a crunch League Cup quarter-final tie the Serbian played a crucial role in Liverpool’s progress to the last four and scored his first goal for the Reds.

 


Rodgers is mighty impressed with the Serbian’s performance against the Championship leaders and said that Markovic played his role to perfection on the night.

"Playing in that role [against Bournemouth] he was outstanding”, Rodgers told the club’s official site.

“He was defensively good and pressed the ball at almost all of the right times, so tactically he was very good.

"And with the ball his speed and movement was excellent. He has got good quality and is a good footballer.”

At 20, the Northern Irishman feels Markovic still has time on his side and stressed that the winger showing marked signs of improvement all the time.

“It is pleasing. At 20 years of age, he looks like he is improving all the time."

Liverpool will require Markovic to maintain his form when they host Arsenal this Sunday at Anfield.
