Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin is grateful towards his team-mates for maintaining their faith and confidence in him.

Defensive injuries have forced Arsene Wenger to use the young Spaniard more this season and he has been a revelation for Arsenal.

He was impressive in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Newcastle United last weekend and Bellerin admits that he has been playing with more confidence and freedom now, which reflected in his performance against the Magpies.

“You get the confidence from the players and the coaches around you and I feel more comfortable every time I get to play, so Saturday was definitely my best performance”, Bellerin told Arsenal Player.

Bellerin was taken off at Stoke City a few weeks ago at the break after Arsenal conceded three goals in the first half, but he stressed that he understood Wenger’s decision to replace him.

While such an experience could have been damaging for the youngster, he said the support and confidence that his team-mates showed in him after the incident gave him a lot of belief which was reflected against Newcastle last weekend.

“It was thanks to all the people who have put confidence and trust in me because that’s what actually lets you play freely.

“Everyone’s been really supportive after I was taken off at half-time [against Stoke].

“It’s obviously the boss’ decision and it was good because we scored twice after that, but all the experienced players know when they need to help you and they’ve all been really supportive.

“Thanks to them I had that reaction on Saturday.”

Bellerin will again hope to be in Wenger’s starting eleven as Arsenal prepare to take a tough away trip to Liverpool this Sunday.
