Brendan Rodgers says Liverpool will accept the punishment handed out to Mario Balotelli by the Football Association yesterday.

The Italian hitman has been banned for one match and slapped with a £25,000 fine for posting an image on social media which was deemed to be both anti-Semitic and racist in nature.

As far as Rodgers is concerned there will be no appeal and the punishment will be accepted.

"We'll accept the ban, so it's fairly clear", he told a press conference.

Rodgers was also pressed on Balotelli in general and whether he should be now starting to hit his peak.

"I'll leave that for you [journalists] to write about.

"He's here as a football player and he's trying to become a better player", the Liverpool manager added.
