Wayne Rooney believes Manchester United have dropped two points today by drawing 1-1 with Aston Villa.

Aston Villa took the lead in just the 18th minute at Villa Park when Christian Benteke shrugged off the attentions of Jonny Evans and curled a shot past David de Gea.

Manchester United were under pressure, with Aston Villa hitting them on the break and looking dangerous.

But Manchester United levelled in the 53rd minute through Radamel Falcao, the Colombian hitting a powerful header goalwards from an Ashley Young cross.

Then controversy with Aston Villa down to ten men after Gabriel Agbonlahor was sent off for a challenge on Young in the 65th minute.

Aston Villa pushed with ten men, but the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

For Rooney, Manchester United were just lacking the final ball a little and should consider the result as two points dropped rather than one earned.

"We got the early goal in the second half we wanted but maybe that final pass or cross we didn't get right when they went to 10 men", he told the BBC.

"It's certainly two points dropped.

"We were trying to do the right things but they put bodies behind the ball and it can sometimes be more difficult to break them down."
