Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that striker Daniel Sturridge could be the vital missing ingredient for his side.

Rodgers watched Liverpool register 27 shots on goal to Arsenal's five this afternoon at Anfield, but even so fail to win, with the match ending in a 2-2 draw.

Sturridge was again absent, having suffered with repeated injury troubles which have kept him sidelined since August for the Reds.

Rodgers is now crossing his fingers for Sturridge to make a speedy comeback, believing that will spark his side's season into life.

"That will be really exciting for this team", he told a press conference, confirming he expects Sturridge to be back after Christmas.

"Put him back in and we will be back to that flow in our game and results hopefully", the Liverpool manager added.

Rodgers has been fielding Raheem Sterling in attack of late, though today he turned to Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert off the bench with the Reds chasing the game.
