Manchester United's players have belief that when Radamel Falcao receives the ball in front of goal he will score, midfielder Michael Carrick claims.

Falcao was restored to the Red Devils' starting line-up for yesterday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa and powered home an impressive header to earn his side a share of the spoils in the 1-1 draw.

For Carrick, it was no less than he expected from the former Atletico Madrid hitman, a striker he has confidence will always score.

"He's scored so many goals over the years and you feel when he gets the chance he'll score", the midfielder, who is Manchester United's new vice-captain, told MUTV.

"It was a terrific header, so I'm pleased for him.

"After being out for a bit [with injuries] that's him back and hopefully he can go on a bit of a streak now."

Falcao will hope to build on his goal at Aston Villa when Manchester United host Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.
