Celtic manager Ronny Deila has bemoaned the ineffectiveness of his side after they saw their domestic winning run shudder to a halt with a 2-1 defeat at Dundee United.

The Bhoys fell behind in just the fifth minute when Turkish striker Nadir Ciftci put the hosts 1-0 up.

Stuart Armstrong then doubled Dundee United's advantage in the 65th minute as Celtic's defence looked vulnerable.

Deila tried to change things with substitutions, his last being Leigh Griffiths with about 15 minutes left.

And Griffiths did score for the visitors in the 87th minute, while he also struck the post in injury time.

For Deila, his side controlled the game, but failed to defend as a unit, which cost them a result.

"We weren't effective enough today. We had plenty of chances and gave away very stupid goals", Deila told the BBC.

"It is not just about individuals, it is about defending as a team.

"We have not been effective enough in last three or four games", he continued.

"We had energy, controlled the game and played quite well in the first half.

"It is just about putting the ball in the net and that's the most important thing in football."
