Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp says he is glad 2014 is over, as his team were made to look "like total idiots" in the first half of the season.

The Bundesliga outfit, who finished second during the last two campaigns after winning the German league in 2010/11 and 2011/12, registered their 10th defeat on Saturday, pushing the club into 17th spot in the league table.

A 2-1 reverse at relegation-threatened Werder Bremen saw Dortmund trail by two before Matts Hummels' goal in the 69th minute, increasing Dortmund's losses away from the Westfalenstadion to seven out of nine games.

And Klopp was keen to stress that he was not planning to make excuses for Dortmund's poor performances this term.

"Any criticism directed at us is justified", he told German TV channel Sky after the game.

"It's all okay, we have to cope with that. The only good news is that 2014 is over, the first half of the season is over."

"I would not write us off, but it serves us right that we look like total idiots."

Klopp has been in charge of Dortmund since 2008, but despite his team's abysmal form doesn't believe it is time to resign yet. The Borussen have six weeks to prepare for their next Bundesliga match away to Leverkusen on 31st January.
