Leeds United centre-back Giuseppe Bellusci will be contesting a charge of racist abuse after the Football Association charged him today.

Bellusci is accused of racially abusing Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome during Leeds' Championship match at Carrow Road on 21st October.




The Italian has been given until 2nd January to respond to the FA's charge.

 


And Leeds say Bellusci, who maintains his innocence, will be contesting the charge.

Leeds said in a statement: "The player has consistently made it clear to the club that he did not use racist language.

"The club understands that there is no third party evidence supporting Mr Jerome’s allegation.

"Accordingly, the player will be contesting the charge."
