Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo hopes that his team will emulate their trophy winning heroics of this year in the next year.

Speaking at a ceremony after receiving the Medal of Merit from the President of Madeira, the Madeira-born forward said: “These moments help push me to want to keep playing and keep winning. I’m very happy, this is very important to me. It is a privilege to receive this medal, I have no words”




The 29-year-old has scored an unprecedented 25 league goals in the first 15 matches and looks on course to defend his FIFA Ballon d’Or award from last year.

 


Looking ahead to the next year, the Portuguese added: “I hope that 2015 will be just as good as 2014 and we can win everything we have won this year. Especially the Champions League”.

Real Madrid enjoyed a very successful 2014; they won four trophies this year which included the Champions League, Spanish Cup, European Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

If they manage to retain the Champions League, Real Madrid will create a new record as no team have successfully defended the European continental competition in its new format.

Ronaldo will look to add to his goal tally when they resume La Liga action against Valencia on 4th January.
