Ibrahima Mbaye's agent believes that a big mistake was made in signing a contract renewal with Inter, with a permanent departure now the preferred option for the 20-year-old.

Mbaye impressed on a season-long loan at Livorno last term that had scouts from a number of major clubs closely monitoring his development.

From England, Manchester United and Liverpool have been firmly on the young defender's tail, while in Italy, Juventus and Roma are keen. Recently too there has been interest from Fenerbahce.

Mbaye is under contract until 2017 and his agent is fuming at having let his client pen the deal, with first team chances at Inter having been restricted this term.

"I did rubbish to let him renew his contract", Beppe Accardi told FC Inter News.

"It would have been better to leave Inter. Either you believe in the player or you do not. The rest is down to philosophy.

"There were major teams interested in him."

And, Accardi continued: "Today, in hindsight, we would not have renewed. Today, I do not think that the Inter team have big level players and big clubs were after him. But still Inter don't take him into account: it was a mistake."

The agent confirmed Roma and Juventus' interest in Mbaye, but added: "But he is appreciated by a lot of teams and he has great quality, he has great humility. But if I were him I would be angry with me first and then at Inter."

The solution for Mbaye is clear to Accardi and it involves leaving Inter when the January transfer window swings back open in just over a week.

"Young people need to play and at this time I am not thinking about anything. Also, this is because if I say what I think I would say rubbish and I'm angry at the club.

"A permanent departure? It seems only logical."

Mbaye has clocked up just 98 minutes of action in Serie A so far this season, but he has also featured three times for Inter in the Europa League.
