Martin Skrtel feels Liverpool showed grit and determination to snatch a point at the end against Arsenal yesterday.

Skrtel turned out to be Liverpool’s saviour yesterday, when he rose to meet Adam Lallana’s corner to head home the equaliser in the 97th minute against Arsenal at Anfield to earn a vital point in a 2-2 draw for the Reds.

He was heavily-bandaged after a mishap with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, but didn’t leave the field as the Reds had no central defender on their bench.

His feels his goal was just reward for Liverpool and epitomised the fight and spirit that they showed throughout 90 minutes against the Gunners.

While he admits that defensive lapses for both Arsenal goals cost them three points, the Slovakian defender believes that if they can continue to improve, then results will follow.

"It is good that we scored the goal and got a point – we showed our spirit, desire and fight until the end", the defender told the club’s official site.

"We just couldn't get the result because of the goals we conceded and not taking more chances. But if we carry on in this way, it will be good for us.

“Now we have to get ready for the next game, Burnley away. We need to get the three points there."
