AC Milan have not given up on signing Dinamo Zagreb starlet Marcelo Brozovic, though they face fierce opposition from Arsenal and are concerned about his asking price.

The Rossoneri first started to track the Croatian midfielder 18 months ago, at which time Dinamo Zagreb were looking for between €3m and €4m.

Now the Croatian giants want triple that sum and matters have been complicated by the arrival of Arsenal on the scene.

But AC Milan have not given up on Brozovic, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, and see the Croatian as the perfect replacement for Keisuke Honda.

The Japanese midfielder is likely to miss the majority of January at the 2015 Asian Cup, held in Australia, and the Rossoneri want a replacement.

Brozovic is under contract with Dinamo Zagreb until the summer of 2019, placing the Croatian side in a strong position to dictate terms over his departure.
