Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has bemoaned his side's lack of composure in front of goal after they went down to a 2-0 defeat at Elland Road against Wigan Athletic.

An own goal from Liam Cooper and a fine strike from James McClean put the Whites to the sword on Boxing Day.

Redfearn was left particularly frustrated at his side's inability to take any chances which came their way, with defender Sam Byram scooping the ball over from just yards out.

For Redfearn, who scored goals from midfield in his own playing career, it was hard to watch.

"You've got to have composure and quality when you're finishing", a frustrated Redfearn told LUTV.

"I prided myself on scoring from midfield and I knew when you get round the box you have a split second longer than you think and it's about hitting the target and making the goalkeeper work", he added.

"It's just the simple things done well in and around that area when it's tight."

Redfearn, who strutted his stuff in a playing career spanning from the early 1980s until the late 2000s, was known for his eye for goal from midfield.

In a stint at Barnsley between 1991 and 1998, he bagged over 70 league goals.
