Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton is looking forward to facing Roberto Mancini’s Inter Milan in their Europa Leaue round of 32 clash.

Mancini tried to sign the Israeli midfielder in 2012 after his performances at a training camp when he was at the helm of Manchester City, but a failure to receive work permit for Bitton meant that the transfer didn’t materialse.

A struggling Inter Milan, who currently sit 11th in Serie A after collecting just 21 points from 16 games in the league so far, will face the Scottish champions when the Europa League resumes in February.

On the prospect of facing Mancini, the 23-year-old said he will not be having any mixed emotions.

“He coached me when I was at Manchester City, but this is the past and the most important thing is to perform the best game we can against Inter Milan as a team”, he told Celtic TV.

“Every player is just waiting for the opportunity to play in these types of games so when you get this type of draw you are happy, but you need to be at your best and play as a team and if you can do that I think it will be good.”

Bitton will look to continue his stellar form in midfield, which has seen him become a feature of the Celtic team.
