Adam Lallana believes Liverpool still have much to prove this season and they shouldn’t get carried away with their recent performances.

A 97th minute equaliser from Martin Skrtel against Arsenal last weekend, coupled with their win over Championship side Bournemouth last week, have given rise to optimism at Anfield.

Former and current Liverpool players have been talking about an upturn in their fortunes since Sunday evening and the club again believe that they are good enough to finish in the top four.

But the reality is that Liverpool are still only tenth in the league table and Lallana feels they are not in a position to get carried away with their recent performances.

The former Saints man believes Liverpool still need to improve a lot before they can talk about a revival and their top four ambitions.

The midfielder did concede that the players were lacking in belief earlier this season, but feels the Reds are looking a lot more confident and settled outfit for the last week or so.

"We've certainly shown signs of improvement", Lallana told the club’s official site.

"We don't want to get carried away with ourselves just because we've had a couple of good performances. It doesn't mean we're on auto pilot. Far from it.

"We're causing teams problems again and we can gain belief from that. The lads were lacking a bit of confidence, not just myself, a few of us.

“That comes with disappointing results but you have these points in your career when you've got to show a bit of bottle, where you've got to go looking for the ball.”
