Former Arsenal forward Gervinho has seen one of his homes burgled over the festive period, with the thieves believed to have been tipped off the player was not at home due to a photograph he posted on Twitter.

Gervinho currently struts his stuff for Roma in Serie A and, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, saw his home in the district of Axa burgled.

The thieves are thought to have made off with jewellery and watches worth thousands of euros.

It was Gervinho's brother who discovered the crime and informed the Italian police.

It is thought the thieves had been alerted to the fact Gervinho was not at home due to a photograph he posted on Twitter.

On 24th December, Gervinho posted a photograph of him waiting to board a flight to Abidjan, ready to return to the Ivory Coast for Christmas.
