Bundesliga giants Hamburg are the latest club to join the race for out-of-favour Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa.

The Frenchman has seen a season-long loan at Hull City terminated after he fell foul of Tigers manager Steve Bruce.

Ben Arfa is surplus to requirements at Newcastle and the Magpies are looking to offload him in the January transfer window.

He already has a whole host of French clubs on his tail and now, according to French sports daily L'Equipe, Hamburg have become involved in the race.

The Bundesliga side are thought to have contacted both Ben Arfa's representatives and Newcastle to lodge their interest.

Hamburg currently sit 14th in the Bundesliga and hope Ben Arfa, if he arrives, can spark a second half of the season revival.
