Liverpool legend David Fairclough believes the Reds "got out of jail" with their 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor yesterday.

Burnley were on top from the off against Brendan Rodgers' men, pinning Liverpool back in their own half and counting themselves unfortunate to head in at half time only level at 0-0.

A Raheem Sterling goal won it for Liverpool in the 62nd minute, but Fairclough was left with the impression it had been a lucky win for his former club.

"We got there, but it was a smash-and-grab raid", he told LFC TV.

"They [Burnley] will be disappointed. They had that much possession in the game, they had one or two very clear opportunities in the first half which they didn't make the most of.

"We've got out of jail a little bit.

"But it's the points at the end of the day that matter", Fairclough added.

Liverpool are next in action against Swansea City on Monday evening at Anfield.
