Arsenal have set a New Year’s Eve deadline for Inter Milan to reach an agreement with them and sign Lukas Podolski on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Inter are confident of signing the wantaway German international from Arsenal in the January transfer window and are already making plans for his debut against Juventus next month.

It has been claimed that the Nerazzurri have already agreed personal terms with Podolski and the German international is ready to make his way to Milan in the next few days.

However, crucially, Inter are still to reach an agreement with Arsenal for the former 1.FC Koln forward and the delay is become frustrating for all the parties involved.

Though Arsene Wenger was reluctant to part with Podolski in January, he is believed to have accepted that he can no longer convince the forward to stay at the Emirates.

But he wants the deal to be done quickly so that he has enough time to identify a replacement and has set Wednesday as the deadline for Inter to reach an agreement with Arsenal, according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

Arsenal are believed to be asking for a loan fee of around €3m from Inter Milan for the German international forward.
