Fiorentina have put Liverpool on red alert by confirming that goalkeeper Neto will not extend his contract at the club.

Liverpool, who are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after losing faith in Simon Mignolet, have been linked with making a move for Neto in recent weeks.

And their hopes of signing the custodian have been given a big boost today, with the news the Brazilian wants to leave Fiorentina.

Fiorentina officially announced: "ACF Fiorentina must announce that goalkeeper Norberto Murara Neto today officially informed the club of his intention not to prolong his contract with the Viola. The decision is definitive.

"Neto was keen to make it known that his decision is entirely unrelated to financial motivations, with his desire to be free to decide his own future the sole reason behind his move."

Liverpool may now choose to make an offer for Neto in the current transfer window, something which would also offer Fiorentina the chance to realise a fee for the 25-year-old.
