Lille forward Divock Origi’s father has revealed that he has no knowledge of Liverpool’s interest in taking his son to Anfield in January.

Origi was snapped up by Liverpool last summer and was immediately loaned back to Lille for the entire season as per their agreement.

Liverpool have been struggling for goals and both Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have flattered to deceive at Anfield this term.

With Daniel Sturridge’s injury, the Reds are desperate to find another option to solve their goalscoring woes.

And it emerged yesterday that Liverpool are ready to pay €4m to Lille to facilitate an early release for Origi so that the Belgian can join the club this month.

But his father, Mike Origi, has denied such rumours and said that he is not aware of any such negotiations taking place between the clubs over Origi.

“There are no discussions between the two clubs, not according to our knowledge”, Mike told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad.

“For now, Divock remains at Lille for the next six months and there has been no communication contrary to this information.”

The Belgian international has scored four goals in 25 appearances for Lille in all competitions this season.
