Premier League outfit Queens Park Rangers have confirmed the loan signing of West Ham United striker Mauro Zarate.

The 27-year-old will be at Loftus Road until the end of the season and will be available for selection for the Hoops' next Premier League fixture against Burnley this weekend.

For the team that have struggled with goals this season, having managed to score 22 while conceding 35, the addition of yet another striker could be significant.

And for Zarate, who found his chances limited at Upton Park, the move to QPR could well help to revive his career.

“I am happy”, Zarate told QPR's official site.

“I need this, I need to play and Queens Park Rangers have given me this chance to show what I can do.

"The Premier League is the best in the world at this moment. Does my style suit the Premier League? Maybe. We will see!"

Zarate also took time to speak about QPR boss Harry Redknapp's earlier attempts to sign him, before he moved to Lazio.

“When I met the manager he told me he wanted to sign me for Portsmouth before, but in that moment I went to Lazio. But now I am here and will play for him.

“I will try to do different things with the ball, some skills to make the difference for the team, for me and for the other players. I am fit and I hope I can be involved on Saturday.”
