Saint-Etienne defender Loic Perrin insists that he would not leave Les Verts for just any club, but would have been forced to consider Arsenal due to their standing in world football.

Perrin admitted recently that Arsenal had made contact with him over a potential move to the Emirates Stadium, but their interest has now cooled, Arsene Wenger claiming they are no longer on the Frenchman's tail.

He is a one-club man, having been brought through the youth ranks at Saint-Etienne and now captains the side.

And Perrin would not leave for just any club – but Arsenal are not a club he views as just any club.

"I have always said that Saint-Etienne are my club and if I go it would be to take the next step", Perrin told L'Equipe.

"When it comes to Arsenal, we're not just speaking about any club", the defender added.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will rekindle their interest in Perrin later in the transfer window.
