Barcelona stalwart Lionel Messi has categorically denied influencing decisions taken by the club management.

Messi was reported to have asked for incumbent manager Luis Enrique to be sacked after having an alleged bust up with the Asturian in the wake of being left out of the starting eleven in their league defeat against Real Sociedad.

After scoring a goal and assisting another in their win over Atletico Madrid yesterday, the Argentina national team captain spoke to Barca TV to give his version of the affair.

“I’m grateful to be able to give my version. I listened to it all, how I don’t get on with lots of people and I didn’t deny any of it, because it’s always been said that I didn’t get on with [Pep] Guardiola, [Samuel] Eto’o, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, etc.

“I didn’t say anything about what was being said. I never do. Some people say they want to damage us, they say rubbish about us, and the attacks don’t come from Madrid.

“I’m tired of all the things they say, both before and just now.

“They make out as if I run the club and that’s not true. I don’t ask for decisions to be taken”, he concluded.
