Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has revealed that his team-mate Lionel Messi has told him that he has no intention of leaving the club in the near future.

Recent reports have suggested that the Argentine has fallen out with manager Luis Enrique and might be seeking a move out of the club soon, with Chelsea linked with a bid.

However, Messi's team-mate insists that there is no truth to the reports and his team are trying to stay united at present with the fans behind them.

"He controls his future and he has said he has no intention of leaving and that’s very important for us", the 26-year-old told his club's official site while speaking about Messi.

"All he was saying yesterday was the typical cliche that you never know what might happen in the future.

"People usually only know what they are told by the press, but I think everyone has now had a chance to speak.

"We just want to be united, to be as one, and for the fans to be behind us."

Busquets also took time to speak about Messi as a person, highlighting the down-to-earth nature of the 27-year-old.

“Messi is a very down-to-earth person. He may be an amazing player but, as he said the other day, he’s a squad member like any other."

Busquets' team have now climbed up to the second place in the league after a win against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
