Manchester United winger Angel di Maria wants FIFA to award two Ballon d’Ors so players other than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have a chance to win the award.

Ronaldo bagged his second consecutive FIFA Ballon d’Or, his third overall, last night in a glittering ceremony in Zurich.

Messi and Ronaldo have shared the accolade for the last five years and the Manchester United winger feels that others should also get an opportunity to win the award.

Di Maria joked that two awards should be given, one to decide the best between Messi and Ronaldo and the second one should be given to the best amongst all the other footballers.

“Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are two different kinds of players but there is no doubt that they are the best under these conditions”, Di Maria said during the ceremony.

“FIFA should award two Ballon d’Ors.

“One to decide the best between them and the second one should be given to someone else, so that other players have a chance to win something.”

Manchester United’s record summer signing did feature in the team of the year.
