Cristiano Ronaldo has talked up in-demand Norwegian sensation Martin Odegaard.

The 16-year-old Stromsgodset midfielder is wanted by a who's who of European football, including Arsenal, Celtic, Ajax, Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Ronaldo's own Real Madrid.

Odegaard has trained with a number of his suitors, but has most recently been tipped to join Real Madrid, the number 16 shirt being said to have been put aside for the midfielder.

Ronaldo, speaking at yesterday's FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony, would not be drawn on lining up alongside Odegaard, but was willing to talk up the player's potential.

"A good player", the Real Madrid star said.

"I think he's a young boy, still growing. He is 16 years old and he has a good future ahead.

"We must give him time to learn to take his best decisions.

"But I see a lot of potential in that player – a good left foot!" Ronaldo concluded.
