Raphael Varane feels his future lies at Real Madrid and is set to reject Bayern Munich’s overtures for a transfer this summer.

Pep Guardiola has made the French defender his number one target and has demanded Bayern Munich make the transfer happen at the end of the season.

It was believed that the youngster is not too happy being in and out of the Real Madrid first eleven and he has been tipped to consider the option of joining another European giant such as Bayern Munich.

But the noise coming out of the Bernabeu is not encouraging for Guardiola and according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Varane is set to reject Bayern Munich’s overtures.

Though he wants to play more football, Varane is happy swapping places with Pepe in the first eleven and has been assured by Carlo Ancelotti that he will be Real Madrid’s defensive leader for years to come.

The Frenchman feels settled in Madrid and both the club and the player want to continue their association for a long time to come.

Guardiola wants to sign a top class defender next summer but might now need to remove Varane’s name from his potential list of targets.
