Aston Villa midfielder Tom Cleverley admits that playing against Liverpool has always been extra special for him and he is relishing the chance to shoot them down.

The Villans, who are without a league win since early December, will host eighth-placed Liverpool tomorrow at Villa Park in the Premier League.

Given his Manchester United background, a fixture against Liverpool will always be of extra significance for the midfielder.

The England man said that apart from his time with the senior team at Manchester United, fixtures against Liverpool at youth level were also very significant.

The midfielder admits that a game against Liverpool will always be a standout occasion for him and he is looking forward to making an impact against the Reds at Villa Park.

"Not just in my three years in United's first team but from the age of 11 or 12, Liverpool was always the game you wanted to win”, Cleverley told the club’s official site.

"They were always one of the best teams at academy level and you relished the matches against them, even at that early age.

"So it's always been a massive fixture for me growing up. It was a standout game.

"Just because I'm at Villa, that doesn't change for me.

“I'll always look forward to matches against Liverpool.”

Cleverley already has a Premier League winners’ medal in his locker with the Red Devils, a trophy that Liverpool have failed to win in the last 25 years.
