Ajax coach Frank de Boer admits he has heard about Newcastle United being interested in appointing him, but claims they have not been in touch with him personally.

With Alan Pardew's departure to Crystal Palace, the Magpies are on the lookout for a new boss and have been heavily linked with De Boer.

The Dutchman, who has led Ajax to the last four successive Eredivisie titles, is not minded to quit mid-season though, meaning Newcastle would have to wait until the end of the season to appoint him.

"I have also read about interest from Newcastle, but I have not heard anything myself", De Boer told TV programme De Tafel van Kees, when asked about links with the St. James' Park outfit.

"I have told my agent that he doesn't need to let me know about interest from clubs now because I am not going to leave prematurely", the Dutchman added.

De Boer has been regularly linked with switching to take charge of an English club in recent years.

He snubbed an approach from Liverpool in 2012, while he was also mooted as under consideration by Tottenham Hotspur before Mauricio Pochettino's appointment.
