Former Germany captain Oliver Kahn has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson still holds a grudge against him for rejecting an offer to join Manchester United in 1994.

Kahn is considered as one of the greatest goalkeepers of his era and was awarded the Golden Ball for his performances in the 2002 World Cup for Germany.

He also won the Champions League at Bayern Munich, but he could have easily competed for the number one spot with another great goalkeeper in the form of Peter Schmeichel at Old Trafford.

The 45-year-old has revealed that Manchester United made him an offer before he joined Bayern Munich in 1994.

But Kahn rejected the Red Devils’ proposal and the German said that Ferguson still holds a grudge against him for rejecting a chance to move to Old Trafford.

"Alex Ferguson has never forgotten that", the iconic goalkeeper told German website Fanbookz.

"He still holds that against me to this day!"

Kahn went on to become a legend at Bayern Munich, winning eight German league titles and making 630 appearances for the club.

Ferguson’s Manchester United did score two injury time goals against Kahn’s Bayern Munich in the Champions League final in 1999 at the Nou Camp to break German hearts and lift the trophy.
