Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez believes the football world is rife with great Spanish players and given the chance he would sign Arsenal's Santi Cazorla and Manchester City's David Silva for his club.

Xavi has been an important part of an all-conquering Barcelona as well as the Spanish national team; with the two sides he has won every trophy at club and international level.

The midfielder has made 14 league appearances for the Catalans this season, during which he has scored one goal and assisted a further three goals as they sit second in La Liga behind Real Madrid.

According to AS, on the question of which players he would sign for Barcelona, given the opportunity, Xavi responded: “Silva, Cazorla, there is some great current talent in Spanish football who I’d sign for Barcelona.”

The 34-year-old, who was heavily linked with a move to LA Galaxy last summer, also revealed he would like to retire at the Catalan club.

"My idea is to retire at Barca”, Xavi declared.

Xavi will look to contribute to Barcelona’s cause when they play Atletico Madrid in a Spanish Cup quarter-final first leg clash tomorrow.
