1.FC Koln sporting director Jorg Schmadtke will not rule out his side making a bid to re-sign Lukas Podolski, who is a cult hero amongst the club faithful.

Podolski has enjoyed two separate spells with Koln, the last of which ended in 2012 when he headed to link up with Arsenal.




The Germany international is currently on loan at Italian giants Inter until the end of the season, but his future beyond then is unclear.

 


Koln, who were promoted to the Bundesliga last season, are dreaming of re-signing Podolski and Schmadtke has added fuel to the fire of a possible bid.

"I do not rule out a Podolski return", Schmadtke told Sport Bild.

Koln have made plans to increase their budget in coming years, which may facilitate a return for Podolski.

At present their budget is €25m per year. Next term it will rise to €28m, then hit €32m and €35m.
