Sporting Lisbon are ready to loan out Newcastle United target Diego Capel this month.

The Portuguese giants were hoping to see the back of Capel this winter on a permanent deal, but have found it hard to attract clubs willing to pay their asking price for the Spanish winger.

Capel’s high wages have also proven to be a hindrance for Sporting Lisbon to find a suitable club for the former Sevilla man.

However, the club are determined to offload the 26-year-old this month and according to Portuguese daily O Jogo, they are ready loan out Capel for the rest of the season.

A loan deal will allow the club to shift Capel off their wage bill and his suitors will also have the option of making the move permanent in the summer for a transfer fee of around €5m.

Newcastle United have been mooted as being keen on signing the former Sevilla winger, but it remains to be seen whether the Magpies make a loan move for the player in the remaining few days of the current window.

Capel’s ability to play on both flanks has also attracted the Magpies, as the club look to add more creativity for the second half of their campaign.
