Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has lamented the late goal they conceded against Barcelona in their Spanish Cup quarter-final match yesterday, but believes the result gives his side a possibility of advancing.

Los Rojiblancos travelled to the Camp Nou to take on Barcelona in the first leg of their Spanish Cup quarter-final tie. Simeone's men put on a solid defensive display only to be undermined by an 85th minute penalty rebound converted by Lionel Messi. The match finished 1-0 in the Catalans' favour.

Simeone lamented conceding the late goal, but believes the tie is still open with possibilities.

"Barcelona controlled the match through their possession, but the goal came through a penalty”, he was quoted as saying by Sport.

"The tie is still open”, the Argentine further added.

Ahead of the return leg, Simeone indicated that it was their opponents’ pressing that created problems for his team.

"Barca have grown significantly in recent matches, especially in pressing in the opposition half and we struggled to overcome that pressure.”

Atletico Madrid will look to overhaul their one-goal deficit and win the tie when they host the Catalans at the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday in the second leg of their Spanish Cup quarter-final clash.
